He was undoubtedly s of one Henry Percy by a woman called Lydia, dau of Robert Cope, of Horton, Northants, and was generally recognised as gs of another Henry Percy, supposedly of Pavenham, Beds. The House of Lords eventually rejected his petition and sentenced him to be displayed before the four courts in Westminster hall, wearing a piece of paper on his chest, declaring him 'The False and Impudent Pretender to the Earldom of Northumberland'
